"Portrait of a woman in a chair with a book". Oil on cardboard. Pieter Ringoot.
Painted at the academy of Dendermonde in the late 1980s.
Pieter Ringoot is what is called an "academic painter". He is not someone who improvised. He never stood in front of his canvas to paint; just like that. When he started he was prepared, he knew what he was going to paint and how he was going to paint it, he had made the necessary preliminary studies of his subject.
An earlier work, also to be found on this website is the basis of this painting.
