Portraits an endless subject. Portraits in watercolour, pastel crayon , acrylic and oil crayon. I lived and worked in the Gambia / Africa for many years and am proud and grateful that I was allowed to interact a lot with these strong women. I learnt a lot from the culture and the people. An experience you take with you all your life, so I try to capture the pride of the African people. This can be done with photos, but also with paintings and drawings. This portrait is painted in soft, romantic pastel colours on coloured paper. Pastel crayon drawing of proud African woman with headdress. Proud of herself and her origins. I have time to draw and paint more after years of volunteer work for the St. Care Foundation The Gambia. Inspiration I got in the Gambia where I also lived. The colors, the population and life is a great source of inspiration. But also the quieter life now is inspiring to use softer colours and to work more with pastel chalk. But still it's nice to work in all kinds of colours and to try out new techniques and new materials.
