Karl Leitner is a lecturer at the Artistic Adult Education Center and worked as a freelance press photographer & photo designer for APA picturedesk and almost all Austrian media.
Numerous, also international publications (Der Standard, Krone Bunt...) about his initiated heart project Vienna Wildlife have appeared. His hamster photos went around the world to Japan, China etc.. They reached even in England (the telegraph) place one photo of the week and also place one photo of the month November 2012.
Did you know that kingfishers, cormorants, great crested grebes, kestrels, great reed warblers and herons nest and breed in the middle of Vienna's metropolis?
The Vienna Wildlife Project shows free-living and rare animal species in the middle of the big city of Vienna and is primarily based on the idea of environmental protection.
The visualization of biodiversity makes city dwellers aware of the nature in their immediate surroundings. This "aha" effect sensitizes people and makes them realize the necessity to respect humans and nature alike.
As a nature lover, he sees it as his task - especially for young people in the city - to bring environmental awareness closer.
As a photographer he teaches the respectful treatment of nature in photo workshops.
