This rustic fennel display shows several bulbs of fennel presented in a terracotta bowl at a Farmers' Market in Sussex. Set on wooden crates, this rustic fennel display includes a small chalk board with the price per bulb clearly displayed. Fennel is in the carrot family and when cooked is crunchy and slightly sweet. The taste is reminiscent of liquorice or anise - and that is sometimes an acquired taste. Fennel is considered a gourmet food in the UK, but is used regularly in cooking here where I live in Italy.
