Sani Lodge is located on Lake Challuacocha near the Yasuni National Park in Ecuador. The lodge is focused on ecotourism and is owned and managed by members of the Sani community. In this Ecuadorian part of the Amazon rainforest you can find more than 500 species of tropical birds, 13 species of monkeys and in the lake you can see the black caiman. It takes some effort to get there. First you have to fly from Quito to Coca (or 8 hours with the night bus), then it is a 3 hour boat trip on the Napo River, a 15 minute walk on wooden platforms and then half an hour by canoe to the lodge. But the Sani experience is definitely worth it.
