I have always been creative, drawing and painting was important to me as a child. Since that time music, mainly rock, has been the thread in my life and this is a great source of inspiration for my creativity. The walls of my workspace are full of LP covers of rock bands from the '60s, '70s and '80s. I will never paint without listening to music and combine my passion for painting with my love for music. I incorporate the emotions that lyrics release into my paintings, giving them depth and evoking memories in many people.
I also get inspired by big cities or countries in general. For example, I can enjoy beautiful architecture, graffiti or dilapidated buildings. As with music, I try to convey the characteristic, unique atmosphere as much as possible.
During lessons that I followed at a graphic education the basis for the use of typography and (graphic) art came into being. The last couple of years I am mainly occupied with mixed media. The nice thing about this is that I can combine existing photos and other materials to create a beautiful and unique image.
I have experienced that creativity (in my case painting) can contribute to the road to recovery from Posttraumatic Stress Syndrome (PTSD). I therefore hope that I can inspire people with my paintings to give a negative event a positive turn.
