Ingrid de Vos - Boom Profile picture Statue of Konstantinos Zappas at the Zappeion in Athens.
The Zappeion, a striking neoclassical building in the middle of Athens' Ethnikos Kipos National Garden. The building was financed by philanthropist Evangelos Zappas and built by architect Theofil Hansen tusen 1874 and 1888. It is the first structure built specifically for the modern Olympic Games.
Unfortunately, Evangelos Zappas died before the opening. His nephew Konstantinos then took over his duties.
During the 1896 Olympics, the Zappeion was used as a fencing hall.
Statues of both men stand in front of the entrance to the Zappeion. It is an amazing building to see inside. I was impressed by its perfect symmetry. Besides the fact that important historical events took place here, it is also a great location for a shoot and in 2024, shows were run during fashion week.
You will also find among my work pictures from inside the Zappeion, but outside it is also beautiful. The access road here runs through the National Garden and when I took this photo in early May 2024, the Jacaranda's were just coming into bloom. You can see them here in the picture with their brilliant purple blossom, which contrasts nicely with the yellow of the Zappeion.
To the side of the statue, you can see a female figure depicted with a pitcher of water, symbolising the philanthropist this man was.

This artwork is offered by Ingrid de Vos - Boom

As the daughter of a photographer, photography has been a big part of my life. I love nature and especially flowers, so you see this most in my work. I have worked as an independent make-up artist for over 15 years, developing my eye for detail. Composition is very important to me in my photos. It has to be right. Atmosphere, composition, colour and sharpness.
Actually, I always see life through my lens. Every day there is so much beauty to see and therefore also to capture.
