We are in the Rocky Mountains on the way to Jasper over the Icefields Parkway. We do not have the clear blue sky that you often see in the pictures of this area, but it is cloudy with occasional little rain. We also stop at the Athabasca Glacier. It is a glacier that can be seen from the road. The Athabasca ice tongue is about 6 km long and between 90 and 300 meters wide. In the past 125 years this glacier is half made less thick. The meltwater runs into many streams down the mountain and collects itself in this lake, the Sunwapta Lake. At the end of the afternoon we see between Mount Kitchener and Mount K2 a huge rainstorm coming.
