Autumn sunrise seen from Sass De Putia (German; Peitlerkofel), a mountain in the Dolomites in South Tyrol, Italy.
It is a solitary mountain and stands between Val Badia to the east and the Villnöß valley to the west, in the far north of the Dolomites, accessible via the Passo delle Erbe (Würzjoch)
.It features two distinct peaks, the Grosser Peitler (2875m) and the Kleiner Peitler (2813m), which are separated by a deep ridge.
Sass de Putia is in a quiet and isolated location on the edge of the Puez-Odle Nature Park. Its steep and rugged peak rises directly from the ancient forests and vast meadows around it. It is considered the north-western cornerstone of the entire Dolomite region.
