In December, we had a short reasonably severe period of frost and I was lucky enough to spend a long weekend on Texel.
The photo shows Texel's Wadden Sea in winter at sunrise. The sun appears just above the horizon with some light cloud cover that gives the water an orange glow and the lines of the frozen mudflats run nicely parallel to the breakwaters of piles and the weave between them. The colours of red blue and white make this a beautiful winter image of the mudflats near Texel that you normally can't get to by splayed.
These are images I have always wanted to make of the Wadden Sea because the raw nature the dynamics of the water the salty air and of course the birds make a deep impression on me. Despite the winter conditions, it gives me a warm feeling.
For people with a great passion for the Wadden Sea, nature and Texel, this work fits nicely somewhere in the house where you can think, plan or fall asleep.
Over 40 years I watch birds and loved to be in the great outdoors. I enjoyed the beauty of nature but was'nt able to capture and share this beauty. I bought my first DSLR camera ten years ago and that changed my live completely. I discovered unlimited oportunities to freeze moments of beauty.
Maybe I can share it with you!
