Swedish Air Force Historic Flight Saab J32B Lansen.
This photo was taken on June 19, 2022 at Karup Air Base in Denmark during the air show held there on that day.
The Saab 32 Lansen was a transsonic jet fighter of the Swedish aircraft manufacturer Saab. The name "Lansen" is Swedish for lance. A total of 450 aircraft of this type were produced between 1955 and 1960, all of which were operational in the Swedish Air Force.
Transsonic: Transsonic speed occurs, for example, in an aircraft that flies just below the speed of sound but where the air is locally accelerated extra, for example above the wing, so that the relative speed there is locally above the speed of sound. In aircraft, this may be the case when the speed of the aircraft is approximately between mach 0.8 and 1.3.
A speed above the speed of sound is referred to by the term supersonic, a speed below the speed of sound by the term subsonic.
