The take-off, and landing, of a Dalmatianpelican is always impressive. With their wingspan of up to 350cm, they are among the largest birds in the world. Watching them take off is always a spectacle and when this happens with the backlight of the day's last rays of sunlight it takes on a very special atmosphere. At Lake Kerkini in northern Greece, you can get up close to them and photos are possible that are very difficult to take elsewhere.
Nature fascinated me from a young age. Romping in the fields, fishing in local ponds and observing birds and animals was fascinating. Meanwhile, I have visited many dozens of countries. In the beginning mainly with a fishing rod in my hand, but now I am almost exclusively accompanied by my camera. Oceania is the only continent I haven't visited yet. On several of those continents, I have been part of expeditions. I prefer to stay in a tent far away from civilisation. Preferably also invisible to wild life so that they let me behold their secrets. Actually, little has changed in all these years, because nature still fascinates me. I can also lose myself very easily in the moment and it would not be the first time that I put the camera to one side and enjoy the spectacle unfolding before me.
