About the artwork

*** Attention: Real photography - no AI! ***

Wonderful winter weather: blue sky, fresh snow - ideal for a trip to the Harz mountains! Here the Brocken railway is travelling above Schierke towards the Brocken station.

The Brockenbahn is a metre-gauge railway line mainly used by tourists. It runs from Wernigerode via Drei Annen Hohne on the Harzquerbahn railway and Schierke to the Brocken. Brocken railway station is located at the summit of the Brocken in the Harz Mountains in Saxony-Anhalt. It is the terminus of the Brocken railway operated by the Harz narrow-gauge railways.

Schierke is a district of the town of Wernigerode in the district of Harz in Saxony-Anhalt and the last village below the Brocken summit. The village is nestled deep in the valley of the cold Bode at an altitude of between 580 and 640 metres above sea level. Schierke railway station is located slightly above the village. The town centre can be reached on foot in approx. 20 minutes.

At 1142 metres above sea level, the Brocken is the highest mountain in the Harz low mountain range, in Saxony-Anhalt and in the whole of northern Germany. It is located in the Schierke district of the town of Wernigerode in the Harz district of Saxony-Anhalt.

I hope you enjoy looking at the photo!
