Stuðlagil, the impressive basalt column canyon in eastern Iceland, was hidden from the world for a long time. It was only after the commissioning of the Karahnjúkar hydropower plant, which lowered the water level of the river Jökla, that the magnificent canyon became visible in all its grandeur. The deep valley, surrounded by the huge, hexagonal basalt columns, displays an enchanting view that seems to sprout from another era.

In this remote part of Iceland, nature seems to exist in its purest form, untouched and breathtakingly beautiful.
