Using crown pen, an old-fashioned pen holder and east Indian black writing ink, I drew this almost magical apple tree: imaginative, abstract yet realistic, with fine lines and dots. A circle, drawn with a soft pencil around an upside-down saucer, formed the base. Shaded leaf sections created large apple shapes in the tree's crown. And the ground sections also corresponded to the drawing techniques used in the large dense foliage. The whole thing was a work of patience: The drawing was done entirely like an old-fashioned pen drawing and worked as mindfullness: every leaf drawn, every line and dot contributed to inner peace and balance. There is no colour in the pen drawing but perhaps it would be a challenge to add colour to some of the apples. Despite the lack of colour, the apples are fresh enough to bite into! Fortunately, there was always an ink pad, made of squares held together with string through the middle, by means of a knot, to clean the pen. Ready for another peg!
