Elianne van Turennout Profile picture For many, dreams have a deeper meaning. They are considered windows to the subconscious, where our deepest fears, desires and emotions manifest. Yet it often remains a challenge to fully understand and interpret these meanings. Freedom of thought and creativity seem limitless in the world of dreams. Here we are not judged or condemned by others; we are free to explore and experience without limitations.

Imagine dreaming that you are a horse. You can completely empathise with the thoughts and feelings of this animal. It is an intense experience, where you feel the freedom of running and feel the power of the muscles moving under you. But even if another person had the exact same dream, the experience would still be unique to them. Everyone brings their own perspective, experiences and emotions to the dream world, making each dream an individual journey.

It is this complexity of dreams that makes them so fascinating. They can help us understand ourselves better, explore our fears and desires, and even provide creative inspiration. But even when we try to analyse them, dreams often remain a mystery that continues to intrigue and challenge us. They are a source of wonder and reflection, reminding us that the human mind is an infinitely rich and complex universe, even in our sleep.

It all started with a4 paper and HB pencils. As a child I was often impressed by how beautiful the world around me was. The urge to capture this beautiful world, and to show the people around me what I saw, was actually there from the beginning. If I remember correctly, I was about eleven years old when I first met the camera. Of course it was a simple compact camera with a ridiculous quality, but I enjoyed it.

I sometimes said I wanted to be a photographer, but of course you have one of the two parents who says, "Dream on." Strangely enough, I followed the sarcastic remark as advice, and still went to study photography.
