Along the Amsterdam canals... you probably know the song! This day, just before Christmas, I walked through the city to take photos of our capital city. The canal houses looked amazingly beautiful and I enjoyed all those different facades, The stepped gable, the spouted gable, the neck gables and gables with scroll ornaments. Many tourists come to the city every year to see the special architecture and even though I live 20 minutes away, I had forgotten again how beautiful the city is! So I do understand those tourists coming to the Netherlands to see the old historic cities and buildings. The photo was taken during the day, slightly cloudy and quiet in the city. The stones of the houses all nice in colour, beautifully cared for, though many of the buildings are a bit crooked. A real city picture, travel photography at home. This place is very well known and often photographed. The canal boats are also typical of this place and the city. The boats and the mint tower add depth to the photo. The photo has been edited in black and white.
