The Simon coal mine site in Forbach, known as "Puits Simon," is a historic mining site in the Lorraine region of France. The mine was first opened in 1904 and played an important role in coal mining in the region during the 20th century
On 25 February 1985, a serious gas explosion occurred at the mine, leading to the death of 22 miners and many injured. This incident is considered one of the worst mining disasters in the history of the Lorraine region
