The flower girl, folklore, colourful. Folklore (from English, literally folk learning) or folk art is anything that a regional, national or international community or grouping creates or has created in common culture, morals and customs, traditions, rituals or customs. In these, it usually reflects normal life, a philosophy of life, beliefs, sense of life and/or ideals. Folklore involves things that had and have meaning in everyday existence, such as poetry, lore, songs, music, stories, fairy tales, sagas and epic tales, dance forms, as well as certain forms of visual art, of decorative applied art and of architecture. Various non-religious traditions, rituals and, for example, ancient recipes, are often also included in folklore.

Carla van Iersel lives and works in the Netherlands. She photographs, paints, draws, and creates digital illustrations. Her images are often a mix of these techniques, resulting in unique artworks, such as photos with drawn elements or paintings with a digital touch. Carla's oeuvre includes a wide range of styles, from abstract portraits and colorful collages to contemporary still lifes. By combining both analog and digital techniques, everything is possible.
