I took this photo on the Staverden estate where the rhododendrons were blooming. For this photo I used a reportage flash with a homemade snoot (made ven a chips can), I also used a reflection screen to light the other side of the flowers. As you can see it is the way of lighting that makes the flowers stand out perfectly. If you look closer you can still see the raindrops on the petals, it rained the day before. On Staverden estate there are several rhododendrons that were blooming on the day of the photo, most rhododendrons on Staverden estate bloom purple. You can still see the leaves of the shrub under the flowers in the dark. For this photo I chose to take portrait/standing mode to make it look more beautiful.
Welcome to my shop. My name is Gerard de Zwaan and I was born in 1983 in the Veluwe town of Harderwijk, where I still live. I started photography in 2013. My first camera was a Nikon D3200 which I still own, currently I use a Nikon D7200. Every now and then I also use 1 or 2 Nikon SB700 reportage flash units to highlight a subject. From the beginning I mainly do nature photography, it is mainly landscapes I photograph, the Veluwe woods around Harderwijk being a perfect starting point for this. Occasionally I do macro photography and sometimes I photograph wildlife. Occasionally, I also do portraits of people, which can be commissioned or free work.
