From the bank of the pond, an enchanting view of Oldenaller Castle, one of the hidden gems of Gelderse Veluwe, unfolds. The castle reflects perfectly in the calm water, making it seem as if two worlds - the tangible and the reflected - merge into one harmonious image. The brick building, with its classical shapes, turret and sober gracefulness, dates from the 17th century and embodies the understated grandeur of the Dutch country estate.
The surrounding nature plays a starring role: flowering rhododendrons, tall trees and soft sunlight give the scene a picturesque, almost timeless atmosphere. The estate exudes peace and harmony, with avenues, woods and open fields inviting the visitor to stillness and wonder. Managed by Natuurmonumenten, Oldenaller has grown into a place where cultural history and nature conservation go hand in hand.
This photo captures not just the image of a castle, but the essence of the place itself: an interplay of light, silence and heritage. Here, among water and trees, the past still seems palpably present. Oldenaller Castle is a living monument - a silent witness to centuries of history, shelter and beauty in the heart of Gelderland.
