the mysterious garden
'WE DON'T SEE THINGS AS THEY ARE, WE SEE THEM AS WE ARE' (Anaïs Nin) I studied at the Academy of Visual Arts Minerva, Groningen. I draw my inspiration from everything that is alive and transient. I try to make the intangible visible. Wonderment, harmony, connection, dreams and awareness are recurring themes in which women, birds and flowers play a major role. The skin of my paintings is transparent and lived-in. I build up a painting layer by layer, sanding and rubbing until a lived-in skin emerges. Sometimes I incorporate fine silk in the painting, whereby the layers of paint and silk flow into one another. See also https://www.rarkramer.nl
