Tips for use

Point your camera at the floor or a piece of furniture first, then move it slowly up towards the wall. A bare white wall is hard for your phone to recognise.
Move your phone gently from side to side. Holding it still or waving it around quickly does not help.
Make sure there is enough light. In a dark room your phone has nothing to lock onto.
The artwork appears at its true size, so you cannot scale it in AR. Want a different size? Close AR and pick the size on the product page.

About ‘The vanished village of Petten | Pile village’ by Marijke Trienekens

Off the coast of Petten (North Holland), wooden poles stand in the sea. What now appears as a tranquil rhythm in water and air marks the spot where Petten in Zee once stood, a village that was swallowed up by the sea hundreds of years ago. The Palendorp is a work of art with a magical appeal; I love coming here.

I took this photograph myself, on location, using an ND filter and a long exposure time. By tempering the light and extending the time, the movement of the water fades and a soft, almost painterly layering emerges. The movement of the sea, while the poles remain as silent witnesses.

What moves fades away, what remains stands firm. The image depicts transience, memory and the ongoing relationship between people and landscape. A modest and poetic work of art with a tangible story, captured with attention to technique, place and history.
