On a restless evening in June, I am standing on the North Sea coast. It is quite windy but that is exactly what I want. I hope to capture the movements of the clouds with a long shutter speed. It is ebbing tide. I look for a good spot with reflections right in front of me. Very occasionally, the sun peeks through the clouds. It is difficult to get the tripod stable in this wind. I weight it down with a beanbag and hang my rucksack on it as well. Then set up the camera and then slide the pre-filter into the filter holder to create a longer exposure time. It's a ten-stop filter. I take a picture with sliding clouds at an exposure time of 30 seconds at the height of the North Cape, the northernmost point of the mainland of the Netherlands. This shows in the sky how time slips.
Karla Leeftink prefers to photograph in the peace and quiet of early mornings with a hint of mysterious mist. The Drentsche-Aa region and the Reest valley are ideal for this with their frequently occurring misty landscapes. She also likes the wide open Wadden Sea landscapes and rough Norwegian fjord landscapes. Standing under the stars she is in her element and impressed by creation. In a frozen puddle and on knots of trees she spontaneously sees abstract works of art before her.
At her nature presentations she enthusiastically shares her nature experiences and lets others enjoy them with the help of her photo and video material. She has set up a line of cards with about a hundred cards, in which she has incorporated her own photos. She contributes photos to magazines and is author of the book "Reeën het jaar rond ".
