A photo art view of Tower Bridge from Shad Thames. Shad Thames is the warehouse area that sits on the bank of the River Thames. The bridge is a giant movable roadway built to avoid traffic congestion. The centre of the bridge raises upwards to allow boats with high masts to pass through. This happens about 850 times per year. It is instantly recognizable as one of the most famous architectural structures in the world. On a dull, dreary day, the River Thames is a muddy colour but the light still reflects the shadow of the two towers onto the water.
