Elianne van Turennout Profile picture A remarkable new trend has emerged, where women are sending themselves into the kitchen, and telling people on social media how great it is to a housewive.

Now you may be thinking, "Ummm, that doesn't sound SO new to me." But all fashion trends are rehashes, and "tradwife," as this one is called, is housewife with a twist on social media.

Tradwives have given many interviews about how they are the real feminists by choosing not to work, to which anyone with a little knowledge about feminism would say, "We gave women the choice - that's the point! Bake banana bread until the sun comes up, if that makes you happy! "

If this was the only thing, you might say, "Fine, good luck, but don't expect me to do the same. It's liked to suggest that their movement is just about dressing up in Cath Kidston and letting their man choose where they go on holiday.

In the US and elsewhere it is very much part of the 'alt-right' movement . It is especially popular among white supremacists, who believe that white women should submit to their husbands and concentrate on making as many white babies as possible.

So aside from the fact that many of those women can't even cook decent traditional meals, you could argue that this is totally self-destructive, and that it's not a case of 'choice feminism', because do other women have the choice to work, and choose a black partner?

It all started with a4 paper and HB pencils. As a child I was often impressed by how beautiful the world around me was. The urge to capture this beautiful world, and to show the people around me what I saw, was actually there from the beginning. If I remember correctly, I was about eleven years old when I first met the camera. Of course it was a simple compact camera with a ridiculous quality, but I enjoyed it.

I sometimes said I wanted to be a photographer, but of course you have one of the two parents who says, "Dream on." Strangely enough, I followed the sarcastic remark as advice, and still went to study photography.
