The Arch of Reunification is a huge sculpture south of Pyongyang, the capital of North Korea. It was opened in August 2001 to commemorate the Korean reunification proposals of Kim Il-sung. The concrete arch is located on either side of the reunification highway leading from Pyongyang to the DMZ. It consists of two Korean women in traditional costumes, symbolizing the North and the South, bent forward to hold together a sphere with a map of a reunited Korea.
