This abstract photo work in square, titled "Transformation in blue", is a powerful example of my fascination with the beauty in everyday objects. While walking through an abandoned industrial area, I was struck by this weathered wall with the metal warning sign . The contrasts between the textures and the aged colours immediately evoked a sense of melancholy and transience in me.
My inspiration for this work came from the wabi-sabi philosophy, which celebrates beauty in imperfection and impermanence. "I wanted to show the viewer that even the most mundane and forgotten objects have a story to tell,"I often explain. "The traces of use and the ravages of time give these objects a soul and a history that is often overlooked,"
The mood I wanted to set with this work is one of contemplation and appreciation for the beauty of impermanence. This work fits within the tradition of abstract art photography, similar to the work of artists such as Aaron Siskind and Minor White, who also explore the aesthetics of textures and surfaces.
What makes "Transformation" so special is the way it invites the viewer to reflect on the beauty of the everyday and the passage of time. This artwork on the wall will not only be visually appealing, but also a source of constant reflection and appreciation of the stories hidden in everyday objects.
