This is a large, old willow tree that has been in our garden for many years. It is a twisted willow (Salix babylonica 'Tortuosa') and it is also called curly willow or Chinese willow.
The beautiful twisted branches are often used as decorations during Easter.
There are many pictures of trees. And that makes sense, because trees are beautiful!
I always like to make my work "different than different.
So not an ordinary photo of a faded tree with movement where the whole tree is blurred. Nor a photo where the tree is just straight in the frame. Nor a photo of a tree in natural colors. All this is already often done and this inspires me to do it differently.
So a tree that is at an angle in the picture. But also a tree that is partly sharp and partly blurred with a partial movement in it. And a photo of the tree where the colors are converted to old vintage tones.
All this together has become a special tree artwork.
This old willow tree stands firmly in the ground, yet it looks like the wind is almost blowing it over. The wind certainly got all the upper branches and leaves moving.
Enjoy this special piece of nature art when it hangs on your wall!
I see making art as a creative process.
As a starting point for this process, I always use a photo or a painting of my own. Photography or painting is always my basis.
A photo or a painting is therefore always a fixed starting point for me in this process. I often have a plan in my head about what the end result should be, but during the process I often change direction. The effect of this is that the final work of art is different from what I had previously thought, but that only makes the creative process more fascinating for me!
I find my sources of inspiration in everything around me. For example, objects in and around the house or something from nature. Every object has its own structure and shape. Beautiful lines, patterns and colours can be found everywhere.
My collection contains creative and realistic photos, special paintings, but also photos and paintings that have finally been digitally edited or distorted.
I have made all of this with great pleasure and I hope that you will enjoy the work of art that will hang on your wall!
