A tribute to Andy Warhol (1928-1987) he was an American artist, film director and author. He was one of the pioneers of the pop art movement in the United States in the 1950s and 1960s, Warhol has also been called "the silver prince of pop. He is particularly famous for his "flat" and high-contrast paintings and screen prints of packaging products and everyday objects such as Campbell's soup cans, as well as for his stylized portraits of 20th-century celebrities such as Marilyn Monroe and Elvis Presley. Warhol also designed the cover illustration for the Rolling Stones album Sticky Fingers (1971). After his death, the Sotheby's auction house took nine days to auction off Warhol's immense collection of art and "knickknacks. The gross proceeds of this auction were approximately US$20 million.
