Tulips are colourful flowers and come in all shapes and sizes. Tulips are bulbous plants in the lily family. Originally from Kazakhstan, they were introduced to Europe as early as the 16th century. The flowers are fully open and you can see the pistils and stamens. They don't drop the petals just yet. The flower stems are long, so the flowers hang over far. Another day and the petals will fall off. The wilting tulips have a beauty all their own. The tulips' spectacular change in shape and appearance in a few days makes them a symbol of the transience of life.
