About "Tunnel du Loup Noir"

by Artmotifs Eve

About the artwork

From a dark tunnel, two bright blue-lit eyes shine. They stare at you as you unsuspectingly take a long walk in the south of France. Hot dry air, the heat meets you. But no, this tunnel does not seem like a good place to rest in the shade.

At the back of the tunnel, light seems to shine; a scene of icicles and a wall of ice. Could this large animal really live in this abandoned tunnel? The sign next to the tunnel reads 'Tunnel du Loup Noir' the tunnel of the black wolf. Halfway behind this sign, a butterfly rests in the shadows.

You can almost feel the warmth of the stone wall, the sweltering Mediterranean heat making the sight of the ice wall at the back of the tunnel inviting. Yet the chilly, blue eyes prevent you from stepping inside.
The bright blue of the ice wall, the butterfly and the wolf's eyes all have an irresistible appeal.
In front of the tunnel is a narrow metal, red/white barrier to prevent one from entering.
