The Bulli was first built as a prototype as early as 1948 and was named Type 2 within the factory, after the VW Beetle with Type 1. Series production began for the first time in 1950.
The Bulli T1 was available as a box van, flatbed truck, samba bus with 23 windows and folding sunroof, emergency vehicle, sales van with high roof, camping bus and of course as an authority vehicle in the building yards of our numerous communities and cities.
I have been practicing vintage car photography for more than 35 years and here I mainly photograph normal everyday vehicles which were still on the road en masse over 30 years ago. But also cars with extraordinary, beautiful design. From time to time I take pictures of cars, motorcycles and trucks of recent times, when they have particularly beautiful shapes, curves and somehow tempt to dream and drive like a BMW Z8. I find these automotive beauties not only in museums, but also in specialized workshops for vintage cars, with collectors who have invited me to photograph their classics or often in dark, dusty sheds and halls or simply parked at the roadside.
