that's how VW insisted on naming their Type 34 back then, because it was not a real sports car.
Anyway, in 1961, the production of the "Big Karmann" (Type 34) was started in Osnabrück at Karmann. And like its little brother Type 14, which was based on the Beetle, the Type 34 was built on the basis of the VW 1500/1600 (Type 3). And the designers opted for a 2+2 coupé with more space than the Type 14. A striking feature was the so-called "Corvair line" based on the American model. This means fog lights integrated into the front and the beading in two "bow folds" tapered beading made the new Type 34 unmistakable.

I have been practicing vintage car photography for more than 35 years and here I mainly photograph normal everyday vehicles which were still on the road en masse over 30 years ago. But also cars with extraordinary, beautiful design. From time to time I take pictures of cars, motorcycles and trucks of recent times, when they have particularly beautiful shapes, curves and somehow tempt to dream and drive like a BMW Z8. I find these automotive beauties not only in museums, but also in specialized workshops for vintage cars, with collectors who have invited me to photograph their classics or often in dark, dusty sheds and halls or simply parked at the roadside.
