At the request of King Leopold II, Henri Maquet designed the first Royal gallery in 1900: an L-shaped, closed and covered connection between the royal chalet and a large salon in octagonal shape. The gallery is now known as "Venetian Galleries", referring to the classicist architecture of Venice. When the Royal family decided to no longer use its residence by the sea, the city of Ostend was granted the entire complex in concession. It had to get a cultural destination. The Venetian Galleries were renovated in 1998 - 1999 and are now an exhibition space.
Ellen Driesse-Pladdet, born and raised in beautiful Zeeuws-Vlaanderen close to the beach and dunes, grew up in the middle of the nature of Zeeland's countryside. A nature lover who enjoys everything Mother Nature has to offer and treats it with respect.
I've been photographing since I could hold a camera, first analogue, now digital for about the last 25 years, which has only strengthened my passion for photography.
I often go out, for day and dew, when the light is at its most beautiful you can find me in nature to capture atmospheric images.
The silence and tranquillity appeals to me enormously, which is often reflected in my work.
My interest in photography is very broad, architecture also appeals to me, puzzling with lines and surfaces.
But also here I try to keep peace in my images as well as in all other categories.
You could summarize the style of my work in a few keywords, tranquillity, atmosphere, austere, balanced and subdued...On my website https://www.photophila.nl and at https://www.facebook.com/ellen.driessepladdet you can view my extensive collection. If there is just the picture you would like to have on the wall, this can be arranged for you. Send a message to e.pladdet@zeelandnet.nl and indicate your preference, and it will be put in the webshop for you as soon as possible. Thank you all very much for your purchase and I hope you enjoy my work...!
