Old natural history image of butterflies and their caterpillars. Mainly depicted butterflies from the orphan family. The Latin names of the butterflies are below the image. Superb plate from c. 1910. We see, among others, red orphan and crimson orphan.
At Studio Wunderkammer, we are captivated by the vintage atmosphere of the Wunderkammer or cabinet of curiosities. A room in which the wonders of the natural world were brought together. Think of a collection consisting of taxidermy, fossils, insects, flora, fauna and scientific instruments. Basically everything that contributes to an atmosphere of wonder. You love it if you like to let your imagination run wild, love strange and beautiful things, and for you there is nothing that does not 'fit' into your interior.
Now, not everyone will want to turn their interior into a natural history museum and they don't have to. Ever since the late 17th century, the most beautiful books have been published with beautifully drawn and hand-coloured plates on exactly those subjects that fit the themes of the cabinet of curiosities. And we at SW are terrible fans of these.
We scour town and country for the most beautiful slides for your interior. Our team of specialists then professionally digitises them in very high resolution, after which (if necessary) they are carefully digitally retouched and sometimes even restored. Everything to offer you the best possible quality as a reproduction on canvas, aluminium dibond, (framed) photo print, wallpaper and Art Frame, customised print in Fine-Art quality.
In this way, we offer everyone the chance to have a piece of Wunderkammer style in their home with an educational and unconventional effect.
