About the artwork

Realistic painting in acrylic of the Volkswagen Samba, painted by artist Paul Meijering - the original painting is 90 x 120 cm and available for sale Transporter is the name for a van from the German car manufacturer Volkswagen, known internally as Typ 2 (the Volkswagen Beetle was internally called Typ 1). Since 1990, with the arrival of the T4 variant, Transporter has also been registered as a name. Various nicknames have been used for the various models over the years, with VW Bus being the commonly used one. Under the Typ 2 name, 5 variants have now been marketed, from T1 to T5. So, contrary to popular belief, Typ 2 is not synonymous with a T2 bus. The Typ 2 is the second model produced by post-war Volkswagen; previously, the company only manufactured the Volkswagen Beetle. Production began in 1950. The model can be considered the forerunner of vans for passenger and goods transport.[source?] In the 1960s and 1970s, the Typ 2 became a popular hippie van, mainly because it offered plenty of space for people and food.
