Watercolour painting of Middelburg Abbey, Zeeland. View of part of the Abbey complex showing a gateway and the entrance to the Zeeuws Museum. The Abbey was founded in 1123 by the order of Premonstratensians. Monastic life ended in 1574 after a prolonged siege of Middelburg and the capitulation of the Spaniards. The abbey then fell under the regional government of Zeeland with the seat of the States of Zeeland and other administrative councils. The complex was restored several times and especially after its destruction in 1940 by a bombing of Middelburg. Besides the provincial government, it currently houses the Zeeland Museum the Rooseveld Study Centre.

My focus is on Zeeland.
Living close to dunes, beach and a large nature reserve gives me a rich feeling. A feeling I like to share with others. I want to do that by using my passion for watercolour to depict the most beautiful places, historic towns and villages. So the beauty of this place that attracts many tourists every year. I am currently finishing the images of Walcheren, but the rest of Zeeland will come soon.
With the transparent and colourful look of my watercolours, I also want to show that there is more to Zeeland than mainstream photo images.
