Portrait of Watusi cattle
The Watusi cattle (also known as Watutsi cattle or Watoetsi cattle) is a bovine animal originating in Africa. They have huge horns. The Watusi cattle is a descendant of the primeval cattle, which became extinct in the 17th century. Cattle have played an important role in the lives of various African tribes such as the Tutsi and Ankole for about 6000 years. Cattle provided a tribe with food, currency and status. The cattle with the longest horns belonged to the king and were considered sacred.
