The beautiful interior of the impressive Westminster Abbey cathedral in London. Westminster Abbey is a mainly Gothic-style church in London. It is traditionally the site of coronations and funerals of members of the British royal houses. It also hosts marriages of members of the royal family, 16 between 1100 and 2011, the most recent being Prince William and Catherine Middleton for the time being. In 1987, along with Westminster Palace and St Margaret's Church, the building was listed as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. The current King Charles III was crowned here on 6 May 2023. Famous musicians such as Henry Purcell and Orlando Gibbons also found their final resting place here, at their main workplace. All in all, over the centuries it became an honour to be interred in Westminster Abbey, including for generals, politicians, scientists and other greats of English society.
