About 1 hour north of Las Vegas is the Valley of Fire S.P, a small but beautifully colorful state park. The park is best known for its colorful rocks that have been given the most stunning shapes by wind and water erosion. Add to that the red, yellow and pink colors created by oxidation and you have a fantastic area to deal with. In the park you will find on state route 169 several attractions such as the Beehives, the Seven Sisters, the Arrowhead Arch and Elephant Rock. All red rock formations in special shapes. Halfway the state route 169 you will find the exit to the White Domes road, this 5 1/2 mile long dead end leads you to the most colorful part of the park, the rainbow vista. Here the road winds through a beautiful colorful landscape beyond all imagination. There are almost no real walks in this area but you can easily park your car on one of the small parking lots and walk in the area on your own. Wandering through unknown territory you will find enough beauty.
So if you are ever in the neighborhood, do not skip this beautiful park. For us, it is one of the most beautiful parks we have visited during our 4 trips through the U.S.
