A winter landscape with a small church on a hill. This church is actually not a church but a life-size work of art called "De Terp" on a hill in a new housing estate in the municipality of Leidschenveen, close to The Hague in the Netherlands. With an appearance a bit reminiscent of the little churches in Iceland, I already had the idea for a long time to go back here once we would get some true winter conditions. So when we had one of those rare days with snowfall in the Netherlands I took an early drive to this spot to capture this winter scene.
Photography has been a passion as long as I can remember. Concentrating mainly on travel photography (slides and black & white) I broadened my horizon after going digital 9 years ago. Since then I have been focusing on a large range of subjects - any subject would do as long as it would enable me to create a powerful image. Although this is still the case I now shoot mainly portraits (human and animals) as well as architecture and landscapes. For the latter I often make use of long exposure techniques, using long shutterspeeds to create dramatic or fairytale like effects in camera.
