Kijkduin is one of the beaches of The Hague. and they are the year around very attractive for recreation and kite surfing is one of them.
John Duurkoop (1952) lived on the North Sea coast all his life. The sea, the dunes, the beach and the beautiful cloud formations are often a subject in his photographs. Beach life in all seasons is a source of inspiration for him. John Duurkoop started photographing seriously at the age of 18, inspired by his father, a not undeserving amateur photographer. In his early twenties, John Duurkoop started developing and printing his films himself in his darkroom, where he also experimented with various developing and printing techniques. Professionally, however, he started working in the IT industry and photography became a serious hobby for him. A few years ago, he left the IT industry and is now a full-time photographer again. His love for analogue techniques led him to start a small business specialising in the restoration of old (glass) negatives, slides and photographs in addition to photography. His IT background is often recognisable in the digital techniques he uses in his photography work.
