Sander Groenendijk Profile picture This photo was taken in the small village of Srednji vrh, close to Kranjska Gora and the Austrian border.

I passed this location during my hike on the Alpe Adria trial, which runs through Austria, Slovenia and Italy. At the end of hiking day 22, this is the view of the stunning mountains of the Triglav national park. I had taken a photo then, but the light on the mountains was way too harsh. The next morning, I walked back to this location well before sunrise, waiting for the sun to illuminate the mountains with its soft light.

This photo was taken 20 minutes after sunrise, with the mountains catching the early sunlight. In the valley, some mist still hangs between trees, largely covering the hills in the centre of the photo. The fresh green grass with flowers in between, give this image a summer feel!!!
