This painting hangs as an original in my kitchen. For years I have been looking fondly at this late acrylic painting I made several years ago, just before I switched techniques to east Indian ink. Another one like it, in the same style, hangs in the room. The originals are not for sale and hang beautifully in our own interior. But now I thought it was time to digitize this work to make more people happy.
Before having children I painted mainly with acrylic paint on large canvases. The original of this painting was painted on a 1x1 meter canvas with a thickness of 4cm. I loved the feeling of my fingers in the acrylic, but proved incompatible with small children. After giving birth, I made only a few more canvases, only to leave my brushes unused for years after that. My style changed from acrylic to east Indian ink and from large to small. All this in order to combine it with small children.
Now that the children are growing up, it may be time to pick up the acrylic paint again, but I have also discovered a love for my inks as well as for the digital world.
I am a creative person, and always try to open doors that seemed closed before. Discovering new things, experimenting. Going further, but also reflecting.
In a painting I always feel very strongly that a look to the left stands for reflection and a look to the right stands for continuing, moving on. Perhaps inspired by the way we read our written language, from left to right. So in this painting, reflection is paramount. The woman looking back on her life in order to move on.
In this acrylic painting, the colors pink, black and white are paramount, but you will discover many colors when you take a closer look at the work. I am curious to see what you see in it!
I am MadameRuiz, and am an artist by profession. I hope to delight you with my work. Here in my profile, or on your wall :) Both are fun!
Will you let me know what you think of my work? I would love to get in touch with you. Also when you have one of my works in your home I am very curious about the end result in your interior.
I love everything that has to do with art, culture and creativity. Experiencing, creating, teaching and communicating. Through language, image, non-verbal and through the musical voice.
I became known for my commissioned ink portraits. My work was first shown to a large audience in the program VTWonen Weer verliefd op je huis (February 2021). I make many ink portraits of and for individuals; from pregnancy portraits, wedding portraits, child portraits, love portraits and family portraits to portraits of pets such as dogs, cats, horses and birds. These ink portraits are all handmade by the way, drawn and painted with east indian ink on watercolor paper.
In my shop at work on the wall you can order my Digital Art. Because I normally work almost exclusively on commission, my autonomous art via Digital Art is really a wonderful experimental outlet. This also means that I keep experimenting with painting techniques and collage techniques using Photoshop. Although I love to experiment, quality comes first
