The Dutch coast is inhabited in winter by thousands of sanderlings. They are very funny little birds and not at all afraid. This allows you to watch them closely, and see how they conjure up their food from the seemingly empty sand. With this photo, I tried to capture the impression the birds leave when they fly away. To achieve that, I pulled the lens along with the movement of the sandpipers.
