I connect organic and abstract forms. In doing so, I enjoy working with different color combinations.
I made this work on Monday. I was a little homesick for the weekend. And then I made this and had to laugh a little. It kind of depicted how I felt that day.

I am Sabrina Cools born in Meerkerk. Here, as a little girl, I jumped over ditches to play in the vast meadows. When I was six, I moved to the centre of Amsterdam where the urban rhythm and energy of (night) life shaped me.
In essence, I am a designer. Consciously and subconsciously, I am always working with colours, shapes and materials. I want to tell stories through beautiful things for everyday use. This takes many forms.
After secondary school, I completed a Graphic Design course. Then I chose to study Goldsmithing in Schoonhoven. As a goldsmith, I made jewellery independently for ten years under my own label Tales of May. I recently completed a course in Digital Pattern Design.
A recurring theme in my making process is man's dealings with the earth. I find my inspiration close to home in surprising places where there is harmony between the city and nature. By incorporating my thoughts on this into designs, I want to reflect on the things I can do to live more in balance with nature. With my designs, from jewellery to designs, from photography to illustrations, I hope to contribute to a greater awareness of our possibilities for the future we leave our children.
