I took this photo in the Leuvenum forest near Ermelo in the Veluwe. To take this photo I had to stand in the water, luckily I had my boots on. Initially it was not my intention to convert this photo to black-and-white, afterwards when I converted this photo to black-and-white I thought it was beautiful in black-and-white too. For this photo, I chose to make it standing to emphasise the height of the trees. The water you see comes from the Leuvenumse beek(Hierdense beek), the water was quite high because of the rain. Some trees of the forest stand in the water of the brook which in turn is good for nature. The part of Leuvenum forest where I was standing is mainly deciduous forest. You can even see a few fallen trees in the foreground. When I took this photo, the sun did break through the clouds for a while, which can be seen in the standing trees.

Welcome to my shop. My name is Gerard de Zwaan and I was born in 1983 in the Veluwe town of Harderwijk, where I still live. I started photography in 2013. My first camera was a Nikon D3200 which I still own, currently I use a Nikon D7200. Every now and then I also use 1 or 2 Nikon SB700 reportage flash units to highlight a subject. From the start I mainly do nature photography, it's mainly landscapes that I photograph, the Veluwe woods around Harderwijk being a perfect starting point for this. Occasionally I do macro photography and sometimes I photograph wildlife. Occasionally, I also do portraits of people, which can be commissioned or free work. I think my work should be seen; if it ends up on a wall somewhere in Europe like the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, Germany, France, Switzerland or Austria, I certainly don't mind.
