ZAANDAM - Railway bridge Zaandam, built in 1884, is the only railway bridge across the Zaan and part of the railway line Zaandam - Enkhuizen.
The railway was electrified in 1974 and doubled in size in stages. The 40 meter long catenary-free swing bridge was replaced in 1991 by the current one. Left of the bridge - which is opened to shipping traffic by a time-lock system - the white building can still be seen on the West side along the Zaan bank that was in use as the Zaanbrug stop until 1938. Seen from Zaandam towards Zaandijk.
