Karl Smits Profile picture МедСанЧастина № 126 Pripyat was founded on February 4, 1970. Sanitarny Sluzhba was the most important hospital in Pripyat and was the general infirmary of Pripyat. The hospital had 410 beds and clinics spread over five interconnected buildings, each six stories high, with +/- 1,200 staff. On the roof large letters proudly stand and read "Здоров'я народу - багатство країни". - "health of the people - riches of the land." The first firefighters who reacted to the Chernobyl disaster were also brought here and their clothing was left in the cellars of the hospital, as it contained an unseen high dose of radiation. The cellars were completely sealed off not so long ago and remain very radioactive to this day.
